Our goal is to be the most accurate and practical resource for people driving in Costa Rica. Here’s how we work.
Research
- Route data (distances and road geometry) comes from OpenStreetMap-based routing, then is checked against local driving experience.
- Drive times are given as realistic ranges based on real conditions — mountain grades, traffic, road works and weather — and compared with typical navigation-app estimates.
- Rules, prices and schedules are checked against official sources where available (MOPT, COSEVI, INS, SINAC, ARESEP and transport operators) and marked with the year they apply to.
Use of technology
We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help research current information and draft articles. Every article follows our editorial guidelines: facts must be verifiable, uncertain information is flagged, and safety advice is conservative. When readers or our team spot errors, we correct them promptly.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you find an error or an outdated detail, please let us know — we review every report.
